The Course

The Foundation Year is deigned to enable you to fulfil your potential. To apply, you do not need the A*A*A grades that Oxford usually asks: Instead, we accept students with BBB+ (See subject specific requirements) and over the course of a year we give you the tuition and supported needed to allow you to progress into an undergraduate degree and excel.

The majority of your teaching will be subject-specific (e.g. English; Physics). Alongside this, you will also have a general Preparation for Undergraduate Studies Course.

Subject specific teaching will be done in tutorial style, either individually or with one other student, whilst the Preparation for Undergraduate Studies course will be a mixture of seminars and tutorials. All teaching will be held at Lady Margaret Hall.

Throughout the year you will be assessed in tutorial work and through exams (January, April and June) and an extended project (June).

During the year you will live at Lady Margaret Hall, fully integrated into the college student community. You will also have full access to the libraries, clubs, societies and sports facilities of Oxford University.

At the end of the year we hope you'll progress to Oxford (you'll need to apply through UCAS) but you'll also have an excellent academic foundation from which to excel at any University. More on progression can be found here.
